First of all, it is important to know that the (un)availability of employees in L1NDA is only a preference. You can take this into account as a manager or planner, but you ultimately decide whether someone should come to work or not. That is why, in contrast to leave requests from permanent employees, you will not receive an email from this.

There are three situations within the timetable regarding (un)availability, these are the following situations:

  1. When an employee has not reported anything.

  2. When an employee has notified availability.
    (1) a specific time frame in a day, only a morning for example.
    (2) all day.

  3. The employee has reported unavailability.
    (1) a specific time frame in a day, only a morning for example.
    (2) all day.

When an employee has not reported anything
If an employee has not communicated availability or unavailability, L1NDA cannot take anything into account. She assumes that the employee can work when you schedule them. You will then not see a shift conflict (exclamation mark) with the shift.

When an employee has reported unavailability
If an employee has reported unavailability for a whole day, you will have a shift conflict on a shift if you schedule this employee that same day. You will see an exclamation mark next to the shift, when you click on the shift you will see the pop-up window the reason for the exclamation mark.

When an employee has specified a specific time frame for the unavailability.
Example: The employee is unavailable from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Then you schedule the employee from 17:00, then there is no overlap with the unavailability and you will not have a shift conflict.

When an employee has communicated availability for the whole day
When you schedule an employee for the whole day there will not be a shift conflict. The availability will disappear from the overview, because you have used the reported availability.

Pay attention
If an employee enters availability until 4:00 PM, but the employee does not enter anything after 4:00 PM and you schedule the employee until 5:00 PM, you will not see a shift conflict. This is because no preference has been communicated after 16:00, so L1NDA cannot take this into account and you will not see a shift conflict. Suppose the employee is unavailable after 4:00 PM, you will only see a shift conflict if unavailability has been entered by the employee.
